|AFA’s 2021 Air, Space & Cyber Conference is less than two weeks away and we can’t wait to see you there. Given nationwide concerns about COVID-19, we want to assure you AFA is doing everything possible to ensure we hold a safe and successful event.|
As you may already know, Secretary of the Air Force Frank Kendall authorized in-person attendance for Air Force and Space Force military and civilian personnel, provided they are fully vaccinated. Unvaccinated service members and civilians are, of course, authorized to attend virtually. To protect the health and safety of all and the continued readiness of our Airmen and Guardians we at AFA have implemented the following guidelines for in-person attendance: All attendees must wear masks indoors, except while eating or drinking, in accordance with requirements set forth by Prince George’s County, the local jurisdiction All attendees, by attending in person, assert either: That they have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 That they have tested negative for COVID-19 within three days of arrival at Gaylord National Individuals who cannot assert either option should update their registration to a virtual only option.
Our theme for this year’s conference is “Air and Space Leadership for our Nation – Today and Tomorrow.” Leading in the midst of a pandemic is a challenge to say the least. We are fortunate that our Air and Space Forces are in such capable hands. While we all would like to put away the masks and stop talking about pandemic statistics, the reality is the disease continues to spread and the risks remain high. Taking prudent measures such as these are necessary precautions to enable face-to-face engagement, the hallmark of a successful conference. These inconveniences are a small price to pay for the privilege of meeting in person and exchanging ideas with the many military and civilian leaders, Airmen and Guardians, foreign military members, and industry representatives who will join us September 20-22.
After two consecutive virtual conferences, AFA’s 2021 Air, Space & Cyber Conference will be a welcome return to in-person meetings. Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We look forward to seeing you there!
